چکیده

The performance of a speaker verification (SV) system is normally determined by the false reject (FRR) and false accept (FAR) rates as averages on a population of test speakers. However, information on the FRR distribution is required when estimating the portion of clients that will suffer from an unacceptably high reject rate. This paper studies this distribution in a population using a SV system operating in low reject mode. Two models of the distribution are proposed and compared with test data. An attempt is also made to tune the decision threshold in order to obtain a desired portion of clients having a reject rate lower than a specified value.

Using Exciting and Spectral Envelope Information and Matrix Quantization for Improvement of the Speaker Verification Systems

Speaker verification from talking a few words of sentences has many applications. Many methods as DTW, HMM, VQ and MQ can be used for speaker verification. We applied MQ for its precise, reliable and robust performance with computational simplicity. We also used pitch frequency and log gain contour for further improvement of the system performance.

Towards Goat Detection in Text-Dependent Speaker Verification

We present a method that identifies speakers that are likely to have a high false-reject rate in a text-dependent speaker verification system (“goats”). The method normally uses only the enrollment data to perform this task. We begin with extracting an appropriate feature from each enrollment session. We then rank all the enrollment sessions in the system based on this feature. The lowest-ranki...

Text-independent speaker verification based on broad phonetic segmentation of speech

Speaker verification involves the determination of whether or not a test utterance belongs to a specific reference speaker. The utterance is either accepted as belonging to the reference speaker or rejected as belonging to an imposter. Speaker verification has great potential for security applications, such as physical access control, computer data access control, and automatic telephone transa...
